Pretty Sport at the moment though many Old-timer

Clean. Go prepared for a clean descent. |

Best
to bring your stash, though the plentiful potholes
in this canyon are treatable, depending on your

to Hidden Splendor Airstrip
Park at Hidden Splendor or if planning to do the
full Seger's Hole, try approaching from above: exit
I-70 near Mesa Butte and head south. The Hidden
Splendor route seems to be the preferred approach.

Hard!
Fun! The consensus best approach seems to be from
Hidden Splendor: head down the Muddy Creek for 4.5
miles until the canyon opens. Then head sharply
south then west up the ridge as indicated on the
map. Routefinding into the canyon can be difficult.
In addition, wise canyoneers will be prepared for
difficult downclimbing and challenging pothole escapes.
We always bring a full complement of Pothole
Escape Tools - don't get caught like a mouse
in a bucket. |
