Additional Gear:
At least a spring wetsuit, even in hot weather; an Imlay Gear Happy Hooker and full hooking gear - leeper hooks are especially useful. Another great tool is the recently available Pot Shot, also from Imlay Gear - this can double as a sandbag for the first drop into the Direct section. Please DO NOT use a geologist's pick in this canyon - the use of geologist's picks in canyons is vandalism and not a legitimate canyoneering technique - clean techniques are more challenging but far more satisfying to execute.
Driving Directions:
  Directions to Hidden Splendor Airstrip
From Hidden Splendor, retrace the road Northeast 2.2 miles to a 4WD turnoff on the right (south). Follow this road if you have a 4WD vehicle for .6 miles to a clearing where you can park your car.

Comments:
A great canyon for perfecting advanced pothole escape techniques. But know what you're doing before you head here. These potholes are unforgiving and deadly to the unprepared - if you aren't certain, take the Steve Allen bypass route. Be sure to browse the listed links for more information. Consider also belaying weaker climbers on the crux section of the ramp exit. It is an easy (5.6) but unprotectable climb for the leader.
