Directions: |
|
From
Green River: Drive west on I-70 to Highway 24. Head
south on Highway 24 for about 25 miles. Just before
mile post 136, turn left onto the Maze Road, a grated
dirt road suitable for most 2WD vehicles, though
better with a high clearance 4WD. Turn left (east)
at the Jeffrey Well (mile 6.8). Continue east &
south on this graded road until the junction at
Little Saucer Basin (mile 24 or so). Turn right
(south) towards Burr Pass; veer right at the "Ekker
Ranch - 7 miles" sign. Take the next immediate
right and follow this road as it twists for approximately
6.6 miles. You will be parking to the south of the
drop-in point of Not-Mindbender. |

Be
especially careful to be sure you have your anchor
for the final 100' rappel before pulling your ropes;
you may have to ferry anchor building materials
from up canyon, as there are frequently no anchor
materials at the last drop. If the potholes are
full of water, it may be particulary difficult to
find dry land on which to build a cairn or to bury
a deadman. Cautious canyoneers will bring some cams
or nuts and/or 100'+ of extra webbing. This canyon
has been descended by dozens for at least 30 years
without bolts, please uphold the tradition. |
