long
sleeves and pants or a wetsuit provide abrasion
protection. This is a harsh canyon system on gear,
so don't bring your specialized wet-canyon mesh
pack or favorite capilene top. |
| Driving
Directions: |
|
From
Hanksville: drive south on Highway 95 for about
26 miles to the junction of Highway 276 and Highway
95. Turn right onto Highway 276 and proceed another
9 miles to where Middle Fork Maidenwater crosses
under the road as a deep gorge with a drainpipe.
Park wherever you can find a safe pullout and drop
into the gorge via a scree slope and head up canyon;
or, if descending, route find along the north rim
to the canyon head. |

Lots
of fun partner-assisted upclimbs; this canyon is
a good way to access the head of Trail Canyon to
the South. Make sure you have a skilled lead climber
with you to lead the exit slab (south rim) or difficult
chimney at the canyon head. |
