| Driving
Directions: |
|
From
Green River: Drive west on I-70 to Highway 24. Head
south on Highway 24 for about 25 miles. Just before
mile post 136, turn left onto the Maze Road, a grated
dirt road suitable for most 2WD vehicles, though
better with a high clearance 4WD. Turn left (east)
at the Jeffrey Well (mile 6.8). Continue east &
south on this graded road until the junction at
Little Saucer Basin (mile 24 or so). Turn right
(south) towards Burr Pass; at the Y go left towards
the Hans Flat Ranger Station for 2.7 miles. Turn
left onto a small dirt road that leads to Granary
Springs. Park at the two buildings. |

Comments: |
|
The
loop hike requires some reasonably strong upclimbing
skills to exit out the main fork of Bluejohn canyon.
Alternately, one could proceed downcanyon as a very
long day or as a two day trip past some petroglyphs
and (hopefully) a wet creek, at the cost of one
more 70' rappel. The loop hike brings you through
two great canyons for the price of one, highly enjoyable. |
